Royal Opera House Muscat Announces 2024/2025 Season

On Sunday, the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) unveiled its program for the 2024/2025 season, which will commence in October 2024. The new season will feature over 50 performances, including five operas, nine Arab music concerts, seven classical music concerts, four family shows, three world music concerts, one extraordinary ballet, and a dazzling jazz concert.

The season will showcase a diverse range of productions with both Arab and Western artists gracing the stage from October 2024 to May 2025.

One of the highlights is the first-time appearance of the National Centre for Performing Arts Beijing (NCPA) in Oman, presenting Verdi’s masterpiece. This opera will feature a stellar cast including Elena Stikhina, Piotr Beczala, Liao Chaoyong, and Agnieszka Rehlis, staged by the renowned Hugo de Ana with the Orchestra Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and NCPA Chorus conducted by Giampaolo Bisanti (October 3 and 5).

Following this, Gaetano Donizetti’s La Fille du Regiment will be performed by an exceptional lineup including Jessica Pratt, Antonio Siragusa, Veronica Simeoni, and Omar Montanari in a production by Opera Monte Carlo directed by Jean-Louis Grinda (December 5 and 7).

Giuseppe Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra, performed by the Mariinsky Orchestra and Chorus with the globally acclaimed Valery Gergiev as conductor, will be staged on January 23 and 25.

Younger audiences will be enchanted by Michele Dall’Ongaro’s family opera Robin Hood, performed by the Petruzzelli Theatre Foundation of Bari and conducted by Pietro Maniti (April 18 and 19).

The final opera of the season will be the return of the successful ROHM production La Traviata, staged by Marta Domingo and performed by the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova, with the legendary Plácido Domingo conducting (May 1 and 3).

The season will also feature Arab music concerts, including the annual Omani Women’s Day concert with performances by the blind all-female orchestra Al Nour wal Amal, Nour Ayadi, ROSO Ladies’ Ensemble, and Majida El Roumi (October 17).

Other notable performances include concerts by Majida El Roumi (October 18 and 19), Ahlam (November 14), and Ragheb Alama (May 23 and 24).

Special highlights of the season include a festival celebrating Mohamed Abdul Wahab, a concert series during Ramadan, and a unique concert featuring traditional Yemeni music arranged for symphonic orchestra (April 24 and 25).

Tickets for the season went on sale on August 18 at 11:00 AM.
