Apple Pay Set to Launch in Oman from September

Banks in Oman are preparing to introduce the Apple Pay digital payment service, expected to be available from September.

According to reliable sources in the banking industry, while the exact launch date has not yet been confirmed, all banks are in the final stages of preparation.

This service, which has been widely adopted in neighboring countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain, will soon be introduced in Oman.

Nasser Al Balushi, a frequent technology user, notes that Apple Pay could be an ideal alternative to cash and card payments, simplifying the purchasing process for both customers and retailers.

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has issued guidelines to banks and payment service providers to offer the Card Tokenization Service as a replacement for traditional payment methods. This service will be available to customers without any activation fees.

The launch of Apple Pay in Oman is expected to bring a significant shift in digital payment methods, greatly reducing reliance on cash.
