Over 41,000 Visitors Attend ‘Jebel Akhdar Pomegranate Harvest’ Event

The ‘Jebel Akhdar Pomegranate Harvest’ event kicked off on Friday in Wilayat Al Jebel Al Akhdar in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate as part of the ‘Romana’ event, and will continue until September 28.
Khalid bin Hamad Al Aghbari, Head of the Field Work Team at the Agricultural Tourism Development Company (Janaen), said, “The first day of the fruit harvest in this second edition saw a large turnout of visitors from both inside and outside the wilayat, as well as neighboring countries.”
He added, “Since the launch of the ‘Romana’ event on July 4 until Friday, September 13, over 41,600 visitors have attended. We expect an increase in attendance over the next two weeks as the pomegranate harvest season in Jebel Akhdar begins, which is one of the best times to visit the wilayat.”
Al Aghbari emphasized that the second edition of the ‘Romana’ event is one of the agricultural tourism initiatives and projects in Wilayat Al Jebel Al Akhdar aimed at promoting eco-friendly agricultural tourism and providing unique experiences to attract tourists while enhancing local added value.
The head of the field work team also pointed out that this event provides a unique experience for visitors through various activities organized by small and medium enterprises, allowing them to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience among pomegranate trees.
It is worth noting that the number of pomegranate trees linked to the ‘Romana’ project in its second edition amounts to around 667 trees, with expected production exceeding 8.5 tonnes this year.
