Sultan Haitham Allocates $462 Million for the Welfare of Omani Citizens on the Fifth Anniversary of His Reign

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of his reign, has allocated 178 million Omani Rials ($462 million) to enhance the quality of life and provide financial support for more than 100,000 Omani citizens. The Royal Court of Oman announced this significant support package on January 11, 2025, outlining various social and economic measures designed to address the needs of different segments of society.

1. Increasing the housing assistance budget for 2025 to improve access to affordable housing.
2. Enhancing the support fund for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to boost entrepreneurship and local businesses.
3. Government coverage of outstanding loan payments, including:
   • Housing loans for individuals earning 400 Omani Rials ($1,038) or less per month.
   • Retirees from the private sector with similar incomes and housing loans.
   • Stalled or closed projects funded by the former Al-Rafd Fund.
   • Closed projects funded by the government loan portfolio at the Oman Development Bank.
4. Extending social and insurance support into 2025 by continuing pension payments for eligible families.
5. Providing additional pensions for retirees earning less than 350 Omani Rials ($910) per month.
6. Establishing marriage funds across Oman to assist young people planning to get married, with government financial support.
