Oman Declares Friday as the Beginning of Sha’ban – Ramadan Expected to Start on March 2

The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) in Oman has announced that Thursday, January 30, 2025, will mark the last day of the month of Rajab, while Friday, January 31, 2025, will be the first day of Sha’ban 1446 AH. Based on astronomical calculations, the beginning of Ramadan is expected on March 2.

The Crescent Moon Sighting Committee, relying on astronomical and scientific data, announced that the Sha’ban crescent was not visible in any part of Oman before sunset on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
