Oman intensifies consultations to halt conflict; Emphasizes political solutions and rejects military escalation

June 19, 2025, The Sultanate of Oman has intensified its diplomatic efforts to contain the unprecedented escalation in the region following Israel’s military strikes on Iranian territory and the ongoing offensive in Gaza.
In a key move, Omani Foreign Minister H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidi hosted his German counterpart in Muscat, where the two discussed the regional crisis, including Israel’s attacks on vital infrastructure in Iran and the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza. Both ministers reaffirmed the need to uphold international law, stop violations of sovereignty, and revive support for a two-state solution.
Al-Busaidi also held intensive phone consultations with his counterparts in Russia, China, and other friendly nations, urging coordinated legal and political action to halt Israel’s aggression and resume diplomatic talks.
In his call with the Russian Foreign Minister, both sides expressed deep concern over the situation, warning against targeting nuclear facilities or triggering radioactive leaks. Moscow praised Oman’s mediation efforts and reaffirmed its support for a political resolution.
Similarly, China’s Foreign Minister condemned Israel’s actions, describing them as a blatant breach of the UN Charter. He emphasized that diplomacy is the only path forward and commended Oman’s persistent efforts to promote peace.
These diplomatic moves highlight Oman’s unwavering stance in favor of dialogue, rational engagement, and firm opposition to military solutions, as it seeks to prevent broader disaster and return to fair and lasting political outcomes.
