Meta launches content tracking tool to protect creators

29 November 2025
Meta has announced the rollout of a new tool designed to detect and track copied content, enabling content creators to identify re-posted videos of their work and attach a direct link to the original source.
According to Meta, once the “tracking” option is activated, a label will appear on re-posted videos indicating that the content originates from the original creator’s account. The original owner of the video can also fully block the copied content from being viewed, without imposing penalties on the account that re-shared it.
This move comes in direct response to widespread complaints from content creators over recent years regarding the unauthorized reuse of their videos, and is aimed at enhancing transparency, protecting digital ownership rights, and strengthening the content-creation economy.
