Sultan Qaboos University Ranks Among the Top Three Universities in the Arab World

Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) has secured third place in the 2025 Arab University Rankings, an emerging classification issued by the Association of Arab Universities, affiliated with the League of Arab States and headquartered in Amman.

The 2025 ranking evaluated 236 universities from 20 Arab countries, based on a set of indicators including educational performance, scientific and research capacity, human capital inputs, and academic data. The assessment process was conducted fully automatically, without human intervention, enhancing the credibility, objectivity, and transparency of the results.

According to the ranking results:

  • King Saud University (Saudi Arabia) ranked first,
  • United Arab Emirates University came in second,
  • Sultan Qaboos University (Oman) ranked third across the Arab world.

The 2025 edition marks the third cycle of this Arab university ranking. Sultan Qaboos University participated for the first time and successfully achieved third place among 236 universities from across the Arab region.

This achievement represents a qualitative milestone in the advancement of Sultan Qaboos University, reinforcing its position as a leading institution in education and research at both the Arab and international levels. It also reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing academic and research quality, serving society, and supporting the knowledge-based economy, in alignment with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the expansion of regional and global academic cooperation networks.
