98% of Omani Households Now Have Internet Access

According to a recent report by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) in Oman, 98% of households in the Sultanate now have access to the Internet, marking a significant advancement in the country’s information and communication technology (ICT) sector. The survey, which assessed access to and use of ICT among families and individuals, also revealed that 68% of individuals aged 18 and above use desktop or laptop computers.

Additionally, the survey highlighted that 83% of individuals utilize the Internet for electronic financial transactions, such as paying bills. Despite the high level of Internet access, there has been an 11% decline in desktop and laptop ownership among households, indicating a shift in technology usage trends.

Oman continues to prioritize the development of ICT infrastructure, recognizing its critical role in advancing its global position and facilitating citizen access to e-government services.
