Business License Denial for Foreigners in “Semi-Skilled” Occupations

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion of Oman (MOCIIP) has initiated measures to regulate the investment sector and reduce fraudulent license applications.
According to these measures, the issuance of investment licenses for foreigners working in semi-skilled occupations (as classified by the Ministry of Labor) in the private sector will be halted.
Only individuals engaged in skilled occupations can apply for licenses with the approval of the company owner and proof of financial capability.
These measures are aimed at strengthening economic activities and improving the investment climate and business environment in Oman.
