Construction Begins on Muscat Airport Free Zone as a Global Trade Hub

Asyad Group has commenced the construction of the Muscat Airport Free Zone, aimed at strengthening infrastructure and establishing Oman as a global trade and foreign investment hub.

The first phase of the project involves land preparation, the establishment of an internal road network, and the setup of public service facilities. Additionally, plans are underway to develop an administrative office complex in partnership with the private sector.

The free zone is designed to attract international companies, financial institutions, trading firms, and startups, providing a modern business environment that enhances Oman’s position as a global trade center while encouraging foreign direct investment.

Faisal bin Ali al Balushi, Senior Manager at Muscat Airport Free Zone, stated that the strategic location of this zone next to Muscat International Airport will enhance its role in Oman’s logistics network. It will connect land and sea ports, Khazaen Dry Port, and other free and special economic zones, boosting air freight for time-sensitive products and e-commerce shipments.

This project is part of Asyad’s broader vision to create a comprehensive logistics center with global air cargo capabilities. It offers tax and customs exemptions, alongside trading facilities, positioning the zone as a prominent investment destination in Muscat and the region.

Balushi also highlighted promising investment opportunities for the Omani private sector, allowing local companies to leverage the competitive advantages offered by this free zone.
