The Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has called on private companies to prioritize the hiring of Omani nationals for managerial and supervisory positions at fuel stations.
In a statement, MoCIIP said, “We appreciate the commitment of companies to job stability and encourage them to take advantage of the employment initiatives provided by the Ministry of Labour to strengthen the national workforce.”
The Ministry of Labour has given a one-month deadline to non-compliant businesses to appoint Omani citizens as fuel station managers or supervisors. This move is part of collaborative efforts between the government and private sector to increase employment opportunities for Omanis.
MoCIIP also commended companies already in compliance for their role in supporting national employment and job stability.
In 2021, the Ministry of Labour and the Oman Society for Petroleum Services launched an initiative to nationalize the role of fuel station managers, and the effort continues to be enforced actively.
