Good News for Salalah Visitors: Oman Begins Construction of Its Longest Highway

Muscat – June 3, 2025, The Omani government has officially launched construction work on the new Salalah Highway, a national infrastructure project stretching 717 kilometers, making it the longest expressway in the Sultanate and one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure undertakings.

According to official data:

• 280 km have already been completed,
• 400 km are currently under construction,
• The total project value exceeds USD 671 million.

This highway will significantly enhance road connectivity between the southern Dhofar Governorate and central Oman, boosting tourism during the Khareef season and supporting logistics and economic growth in the region.
