Work is advancing in Sultan Haitham City, one of Oman’s flagship urban developments, with seven packages exceeding OMR 206 million covering roads, core infrastructure, green spaces, and educational/cultural facilities.
Phase One Details
- Total area: 14.8m sqm | Green areas: 3m sqm
- Central Park + wadi: 1.64m sqm
- Target population: 100,000 across 18 neighborhoods
- Progress: site prep (done), bridges 37%, Experience & Control Center 69%, main roads & drainage 16%, utilities 11%, three power stations 30%, main sewage (initiated)
Roads & Smart Infrastructure
- Main access: Sultan Qaboos Highway & Muscat Expressway
- Design supports vehicles, pedestrians, and light/electric mobility
- Projects: upgrade Al-Salam Road, expand Halban Road, build Singapore Street, widen links to Al-Wafa & Wahat Al-Sarouj with smart signals
- Central Park detailed designs due this year; initial designs for 10 school complexes (2,350 students each) completed; Muscat Private School under construction; cultural complex designs nearing completion
Residential Districts
- Active: Al-Wafa, January, Wahat Al-Sarouj | Upcoming: Zaha, Al-Ahlam
- Wahat Al-Sarouj: 56 villas for Omani youth, 40 villas for market sale, 4 buildings (110 apartments)
- Al-Wafa: started Sept 2024; handover by end 2026
Roads & Tunnels
- Internal roads contract: OMR 63m | 6 main corridors: Halban, Maabela, Boulevard, Al-Salam, Al-Manouma
- Progress: 16%; Maabela & Al-Manouma ready by June 2026
- Tunnels: first 40% complete; second in progress; both due June 2027

Sultan Haitham City is envisioned as Oman’s smart, sustainable city model, blending modern infrastructure, expansive green spaces, education & culture hubs, and a smart roads/tunnels network.
