Muscat Municipality has urged all apartment owners to choose white and its shades for the exterior walls, architectural projections, and fences of their buildings.
According to the architectural guidelines for Duqm City, light-colored exteriors help in reducing heat due to their reflective properties and minimal heat absorption.
The guidelines state that white shades are used in properties in Oman and Muscat to maintain a connection with the local context. “Omani architecture uses light shades of brown based on the Omani landscape and colors. The same color palette will be used to correspond with the local context and to ensure sustainability,” it added.
Travel writers and vloggers have long highlighted Muscat’s skyline. The city’s skyline is unique due to the absence of skyscrapers and the prevalence of white or light-shaded buildings, reflecting Muscat’s peaceful nature where diverse cultures coexist harmoniously.
