Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman announced today Tuesday, April 15, 2025, that the second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States will proceed as planned in Muscat, Oman, on Saturday, April 19, dismissing media claims about relocating the talks to Rome.
Esmail Baghaei stated:
“Following consultations with involved parties, it was agreed that Muscat will remain the official venue for the upcoming round.”
Oman’s Central Role in Facilitating Dialogue
The first round of talks, held on April 13, was described by both sides as “constructive and positive.” Oman’s Foreign Ministry served as an active intermediary, transmitting both verbal and written messages between the Iranian and American delegations.
Iranian Delegation for Round Two
Attending the second round will be Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Stephen Witkoff, alongside senior Iranian officials Esmail Baghaei, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, and Kazem Gharibabadi.
