Official Meeting between Sultan of Oman and President of Angola

On Thursday, December 19, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq hosted President João Manuel Lourenço, the President of Angola, at Al Alam Palace for an official meeting to discuss bilateral matters.

During the meeting, the two sides focused on the following areas:

• Strengthening cooperation and joint investments in the following sectors:
  • Mining
  • Agriculture and food security
  • Ports and logistics
  • Clean energy
• Planning for economic development and achieving greater progress and prosperity in both countries.

Private Bilateral Meeting

After the official talks, the Sultan of Oman and the President of Angola held a private bilateral meeting to further exchange views on key bilateral issues.

Signing of Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding

During the meeting, Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and President Lourenço witnessed the signing of an agreement and two memorandums of understanding:

• An agreement on acquiring shares in the “Catocha” and “Luíli” mines in the Republic of Angola.
• Two memorandums of understanding:
  • One on cooperation in energy.
  • The other on exploring opportunities for collaboration in strategic financial initiatives.
