Sultan of Oman to Visit Russia Amid 40th Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman is set to visit Russia this week on an official trip, during which he will meet President Vladimir Putin. The visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, highlighting a new chapter in bilateral cooperation.
Talks will focus on economic relations, regional security, energy, education, tourism, and cultural exchange. In 2023, trade between Oman and Russia reached its highest level in a decade, and Muscat hosted the first-ever high-level security consultations between the two sides.
Russia began offering e-visa services to Omani citizens in August 2023, simplifying travel and trade access. The visit underlines Oman’s strategy to expand its international partnerships and strengthen its geopolitical role in Eurasia.
