Oman at the Lowest Tariff Level; Draft of Trump’s Executive Order Revealed

🔻 A leaked draft executive order by US President Donald Trump is causing a stir in international trade circles.

According to the draft, the United States plans to impose reciprocal tariffs on its trading partners, with several Arab countries listed — but not all treated equally.

Good news for the Gulf states:
Oman, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Morocco, Yemen, and Sudan are all expected to face only a 10% tariff — the lowest level in the draft.

🚨 But Syria and Iraq top the list with the heaviest penalties:

  • Syria: 41%
  • Iraq: 39%
  • Libya: 31%
  • Algeria: 30%
  • Tunisia: 28%
  • Jordan: 20%

🎯 This move appears to be a strategic push by the Trump administration to exert economic pressure through trade tools — a shift that may redefine diplomatic and commercial dynamics in the region.

While the draft is not finalized yet, internal discussions are reportedly ongoing, and an official announcement could come in the coming weeks.

If implemented, these tariffs could open a new chapter in US-Arab economic relations — marked by friction, negotiation, and possibly new opportunities.
