According to a new report from the Ministry of Health Oman, Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are responsible for 80% of total deaths in the country, imposing an annual economic burden of OMR 1 billion on the healthcare system.

The first phase of the National Survey on Non-Communicable Diseases, conducted by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), revealed a sharp increase in obesity and hypertension rates among the Omani population.

🔹 Over 6,500 new diabetes cases reported annually
🔹 More than 2,000 new cancer cases recorded each year
🔹 One-third of the population suffers from high blood pressure
🔹 67% of Oman’s population is overweight or obese
