Muscat – 21 December 2025
According to the 2025 international ranking by the Numbeo platform, Oman has secured second place in Asia for air quality, following Singapore. This environmental achievement reflects the country’s implementation of sustainable policies, effective regulatory frameworks, and the use of advanced environmental monitoring technologies.
The index evaluates criteria such as air and water quality, waste management, noise pollution levels, and access to green spaces.
The report notes that Oman has enhanced its environmental oversight by strengthening legal and regulatory frameworks, launching digital environmental monitoring systems, utilizing smart drones to track pollutants, and providing public environmental data through the national “Naqi” platform—measures that have significantly improved transparency and monitoring efficiency.
In addition to improved air quality, Oman’s environmental policies also encompass the expansion of clean energy projects, afforestation initiatives, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable waste management. Together, these efforts have reinforced Oman’s position as one of the leading environmental performers in the region and across Asia.
