Oman Seeks Design and Supervision Consultants for Luxury Marina Project in Sur

Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology is set to open bids next month for an international tender seeking design and supervision services for the development of the Khor Grama project, located in the Wilayat of Sur in Ash Sharqiyah South.

Tender documents can be purchased by August 8, 2024, and the pre-bid clarification deadline is set for August 15, 2024. The cut-off date for submission of bids and opening of technical bids is scheduled for September 1, 2024, while the priced (commercial) bids will be opened on September 22, 2024.

The selected consultant/s will be responsible for designing, preparing, and reviewing the following items (but not limited to):

1. Designing a marina that can accommodate around 75 luxury yachts and 20 excursion boats.
2. Fishermen’s bay to meet the needs of the local fishing community.
3. Breakwaters to protect the marina facilities if required.
4. Water sports and entertainment area to enhance the project’s attractiveness.
5. Dredging a channel and marina basin to improve access and safety.
6. Emergency and security facilities to ensure the safety and crisis management of the marina.
7. Planning for new roads and maintaining existing roads to improve access to the project.
8. Shaded car parking to meet the transportation needs of visitors.
9. Leveling a 300,000 square meter area to prepare the land for infrastructure development.
10. Landscaping to enhance the aesthetic and functional aspects of the environment.
11. External infrastructure works and services, including water, electricity, sewage, and other essential services.
12. Fuel pump facilities for fueling boats and other marine vehicles.

In addition, the consultant will be required to prepare construction tenders and provide technical support and supervision services.

As of August 6, a total of 20 consultancy firms had purchased the tender documents, including Design Group Engineering Consultants, Tusker Engineering Consultancy, Modon Engineering, and Dar Al Handasah.

This project is considered one of Oman’s key initiatives in developing coastal areas and attracting luxury tourists and investors to the marine tourism sector.
