Dhofar Gears Up for Record-Breaking Khareef: 100 Hotels for 100 Days

Muscat – June 12, Dhofar is preparing for its most ambitious Khareef season yet, with 100 licensed hotels ready to welcome tourists over 100 days, from June 21 to October 10.
The 2025 season has been extended by nearly three weeks compared to last year and is backed by new infrastructure, including the Dhofar Private Museum, a new 84-room 3-star hotel in Mirbat, and a 216-unit luxury serviced apartment complex in Salalah.
A new tourist information centre at Al Haffa Beach Market enhances visitor support. Dhofar now boasts over 8,000 hotel rooms, significantly improving its capacity.
Three-Phase Strategy
- Early season: starts June 21
- Peak: mid-July to late August
- Post-peak: until October 10
Khalid Abdullah Al Abri, Director General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar, said:
“This is more than tourism—it’s a national priority. The extended 100-day period supports sustainable visitor growth.”
The ministry has run targeted campaigns, including at Arab Travel Market 2025, with additional roadshows in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. New seasonal direct flights to Salalah are now operated by Flynas, Flyadeal, Kuwait Airways, and Jazeera Airways.
In 2024, Dhofar welcomed over 1 million visitors, and 2025 is expected to surpass this thanks to broader promotions, infrastructure, and regional access.
