Omani Quality Mark Becomes Mandatory for Market Access from March 2026

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has announced that, starting March 1, 2026, the sale and distribution of designated products in the Omani market will require obtaining the Omani Quality Mark (OQM).

According to the official statement, all manufacturers, importers, and distributors operating in Oman must obtain or renew a licence to use the quality mark before placing affected products on the local market. The directive applies across the manufacturing, retail, import, and distribution sectors throughout the Sultanate.

Implemented through the Directorate General of Standards and Metrology, the measure aims to uphold national quality standards, ensure product conformity with technical regulations, and strengthen consumer protection.

To comply, businesses are required to submit applications or renewals through the Hazm Platform, using government-approved conformity assessment bodies. The ministry has also released an official list of products subject to the mandatory quality mark, accessible via a QR code.

Economic analysts view the move as part of Oman’s broader strategy to enhance market oversight, improve transparency, and align national quality systems with international best practices, thereby supporting competitiveness and a more robust business environment.
