OMR 9mn (USD 23.4mn) Contract Signed for Al Mughsayl Road and Bridge Project

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology in Oman signed an agreement on Wednesday for the construction of the Al Mughsayl Road and Bridge project, with a total cost exceeding OMR 9 million (USD 23.4 million).

The agreement was signed by H.E. Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, and Eng. Syed Azher from AZ Engineers on behalf of the company, in the presence of the Ministry’s Undersecretary for Transport.

The project includes the construction of a 630-metre concrete bridge, supported by 20 piers and two side abutments, each measuring 13 metres in height.

The bridge will feature six decorative arches, with the two largest arches reaching 45.9 metres, while the remaining arches will rise to 35.9 metres.

Additionally, the bridge will have parking areas on both sides and a well-lit pedestrian walkway with widths varying from 2 to 7 metres.

The project also includes an at-grade crossing to facilitate access to other tourist destinations in the area.

This project is intended to improve traffic flow from Salalah to the western districts of Dhofar Governorate (Rakhyout and Dhalkut), and it serves as a key international route leading to the border with Yemen.

The location of the bridge holds tourist significance due to its proximity to Marneef Cave, Mughsayl Fountains, and the Mughsayl Beachfront.
