Organic Date Farm in Ibri Becomes Largest Certified Organic Farm in Oman
The organic date farm in the wilayat of Ibri, located in the Dhahirah region, has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining the international organic agriculture certification, “Ecocert,” making it the largest certified organic date palm farm in Oman.
Affiliated with Nakheel Oman Development Company, the farm contributes to food security and economic returns while enhancing the date palm sector through advanced agricultural technologies.
Eng Masoud bin Saeed al Hinai, Senior Specialist for Agricultural Operations at Nakheel Oman, stated that the Ecocert certification allows the farm’s products to be sold in American and European markets.
Spanning 4.8 million square meters, the farm has 35,000 date palm trees of various types and aims to increase its cultivation to 50,000 trees to meet global market demand.
By utilizing advanced irrigation technologies, the farm ensures optimal water usage while maintaining sustainability by avoiding chemical fertilizers and pesticides. These efforts result in the production of high-quality products that appeal to consumers.
