Pilot Implementation of Rubber-Modified Asphalt in Omani Streets

The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has successfully implemented a pilot project using rubber-modified asphalt on the streets of Al Khabourah in the North Batinah Governorate. This innovative approach utilizes recycled tires to reduce environmental pollution caused by tire waste.

Rubber-modified asphalt is known for its high flexibility, resistance to cracking, and thermal effects, leading to an extended lifespan for roads. Following the successful implementation of this project in Al Khabourah, it is expected that this type of asphalt will be rolled out across most streets in Oman.
