Oman Awards RO278m (USD 724 Million) Worth of Road Projects

Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) has awarded contracts for major road projects valued at RO278.45 million (USD 724 million). These include Parts 3, 4, and 5 of the dual-carriageway Adam-Thumrait Road project and the Jebel Shams Road project.

  • Adam-Thumrait Dual Carriageway (Parts 3, 4, and 5):
    • Total cost: USD 724 million
    • Part 3: 132.5 km from Haima to Maqshin, including 16 turning lanes, a bridge, rest areas, parking, and drainage systems.
    • Part 4: 135 km from Maqshin to Duka, featuring turning lanes, rest areas, and safety measures.
    • Part 5: 132 km from Duka to Thumrait, with additional safety features and drainage.
  • Jebel Shams Road Project:
    • Total cost: USD 53 million
    • Construction of a 26-km road, with a 6-km link connecting to the tourist areas of Jebel Shams.

Impact:
The Adam-Thumrait project will enhance logistics, tourism, and the economy, while improving safety. The Jebel Shams road will provide better access to tourist destinations in the region.

Timeline:

  • Adam-Thumrait: 36 months starting from early 2025.
  • Jebel Shams: 24 months starting in early 2025.
