UN Envoy Praises Oman’s Role in Yemen–Saudi Prisoner Exchange Agreement

The UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen expressed deep appreciation to Oman, stating that Muscat’s hosting of the talks that led to the signing of a prisoner exchange agreement played a decisive and humanitarian role.
Emphasizing the humanitarian importance of the agreement, the envoy described Oman’s role in facilitating dialogue and building trust between the parties as “key.”
The agreement concerns the exchange of prisoners between the Yemeni parties and Saudi Arabia. It was signed in Muscat under the mediation and hosting of the Sultanate of Oman, within the framework of the United Nations’ humanitarian efforts, with the aim of easing human suffering and fostering confidence among the parties.
