Chinese Company Postpones Morocco Project and Decides to Invest in the Sultanate of Oman

Muscat – 8 June 2025, A Chinese company has announced its decision to postpone a planned project in Morocco and redirect its investment toward a major industrial project in the Sultanate of Oman, as part of a broader strategy to restructure and optimize its foreign investments.

In a statement released on Thursday, 5 June, the company confirmed its plans to launch a USD 1.1 billion project in Oman, which involves the construction of a lithium battery material manufacturing facility.

The funding for this project will rely on a mix of private capital, bank loans, and contributions from strategic investors, reflecting a clear approach toward financial diversification and risk mitigation.

This move aligns with Oman’s increasing efforts to attract foreign investment, particularly in the sectors of industry, energy, and advanced technologies, positioning the Sultanate as a rising hub for industrial growth in the region.

The decision is expected to boost international cooperation and strengthen Oman’s industrial infrastructure—an indication of the Sultanate’s growing appeal to major global investors.
