Second Round of Iran–US Indirect Talks Ends at Omani Embassy in Rome; Discussions Described as Constructive

The second round of indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States concluded on Saturday, 19 April 2025, at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Rome, Italy. The four-hour meeting, held under Oman’s active diplomatic mediation, was described by multiple informed sources as constructive and positive.

According to Iranian correspondents in Rome, the Iranian delegation left the negotiation venue following the conclusion of the meeting, and sources confirmed that a third round of talks is expected to take place in the coming days.

During the talks, Iranian and American delegates did not meet face-to-face but exchanged positions and messages through Omani mediators. Discussions focused on key issues such as nuclear commitments, sanctions relief, and bilateral frameworks.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to deliver a public statement soon to summarize the outcomes of this round. Diplomatic sources in Rome confirmed that both sides have shown preliminary agreement to reconvene for another round of discussions.

These talks reflect Oman’s continuing role as a neutral mediator aiming to reduce regional tensions and restore diplomacy as a central mechanism for conflict resolution.
