Oman Gears Up for 54th National Day

As Oman approaches its 54th National Day celebrations on November 18, citizens and businesses across the country are decorating their surroundings with the national colors—green, red, and white. Streets are lined with Omani flags, and prominent buildings glow with colorful LED lighting, creating a festive atmosphere. Many are adorning their vehicles with flags and pictures of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, showcasing their patriotic spirit.
Shops are bustling with customers purchasing flags, accessories, shawls, and other decorations. Vendors, like Salman Al Balushi, mention sourcing products locally from places like Suhar, although imported items, especially from China, are also in demand. Major buyers include schools, companies, and event organizers, with high demand for items such as miniature flags, coffee mugs, and T-shirts, commonly used for giveaways.
Decorating vehicles is a popular trend, with citizens and even some expatriates participating. A car decoration can cost a minimum of 15 Omani Riyals, and Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued guidelines for vehicle decorations, ensuring compliance with traffic safety regulations.
Landmarks across Oman are illuminated in tricolors, fostering a strong sense of nationalism as the nation prepares to commemorate this special occasion.
