OQ Gas Network’s 193km Fahud to Sohar Pipeline Project

The OQ Gas Network (OQGN) has recently received the necessary approvals for the construction of a 193-kilometer pipeline connecting Fahud to Sohar. This pipeline, with a diameter of 42 inches, is one of the largest energy infrastructure projects in Oman and will significantly enhance the country’s gas network.
The new pipeline will increase the gas transmission capacity in the Sohar and Ibri regions by 9 million standard cubic meters per day, playing a crucial role in supporting industrial growth. The project is expected to be completed by 2027.
OQGN currently manages over 4,030 kilometers of pipeline infrastructure across Oman, supplying natural gas to critical industries such as power generation, water desalination, cement production, aluminum manufacturing, and petrochemicals. The company emphasized that it will keep its shareholders updated on any further developments regarding the project.
Fahud and Sohar: Where Are They?
Fahud is located in central Oman, near the Oman Desert. It is a key area for oil and gas production and is home to several major energy companies.
Sohar is situated in northern Oman, on the coast of the Gulf of Oman. It is home to one of the country’s largest industrial ports and plays a vital role in Oman’s trade and export activities. The city is also a significant industrial hub, with a focus on industries such as aluminum, petrochemicals, and steel. Historically, Sohar is known as the legendary birthplace of the famous sailor Sinbad.
The new pipeline project will not only improve gas infrastructure but will also support industrial and economic growth in both Fahud and Sohar.
