Start of the Rose Harvest Season in Oman

On Saturday, March 22, 2025, the annual Damask rose harvest season, known locally as “Tana’ Al-Ward”, officially began in Al-Ain village, part of the Jabal Akhdar region. This traditional event, held annually by rose farmers and enthusiasts, features a public auction to sell rose products within the village.

The rose harvest in Oman typically takes place from late March to late April, marking an important period for the local economy and domestic and international tourism. The orchards of Al-Ain are also known for their variety of fruit trees, including figs, grapes, pomegranates, apricots, peaches, and walnuts, irrigated by continuously flowing water channels. In addition to agriculture, locals engage in activities such as traditional rosewater distillation, livestock farming, and rose cultivation.

According to statistics, over 4,000 Damask rose bushes are cultivated in villages like Al-Aqur, Al-Ain, Seeq, and Al-Sharijah in the Wilayat of Jabal Akhdar. Thanks to the area’s mountainous terrain and cool climate, the roses are known for their exceptional quality.
