The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth of Oman has announced the first edition of the “Raneen” contemporary art festival, which will take place from November 21 to 30 in the historic town of Muttrah.
This event will span ten days at three different venues, featuring thirteen local artists, seven international artists, and eight solo musicians.
Sayyid Saeed al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, emphasized Oman’s distinguished history in hosting artistic events, stating, “The events in Muttrah will include significant contemporary art exhibitions and artists’ workshops. The ministry takes pride in continuing these connections through Raneen, aiming to preserve our intangible cultural heritage while embracing local and international artists.”
The Raneen festival aims to provide a contemporary interpretation of architectural heritage, reflecting the unique characteristics of the city and its importance in Oman, while revitalizing historical sites in the Wilayat of Muttrah through visual and audio arts.
